Saturday night we found out about this event due to me(Zachary) spotting one of these trucks heading towards the 101 West. I was extremely interested to see where it was going, so I used Social Media to find out. We were told it was out in Gila Bend and gates opened at 6am.
Without even having the SLIGHTEST clue on what to expect, Trent Bridges and I set out to Gila Bend around 7am Sunday Morning. Each of us had never been to an event like this and we were excited to see what was going to happen.
Once we got there, we quickly realized how long a 5.5-6 mile desert race was. Everyone said this was a short course, but this was triple the size if not bigger than what we’re used to. We knew we weren’t going to be able to walk the entire track, but we tried to find the best spots possible. We weren’t quite sure what we were doing, at all actually, but we gave it our best shot to get our feet wet with Off Road Photography.
Personally, I feel as though I could of done a far better job doing this, but it was a learning curve. Next event should be a ton better for the both of us and it looks like we found something other than drifting that we plan to cover next year as well. All of the drivers so far have been extremely nice and we can’t wait to work with them.
****We would like to give a special thanks to Arizona Offroad Promotions for letting us come out and try to look like we knew what we were doing!!!***
