Top Drift Round 3

Top Drift Round 3 we saw the whole gang back together, with Dalton of Eleven’s Paint and Fiber back with us. Going into Round 3 Josh was sitting in 22nd place overall, after his top 16 battle from Round 2. The track this time around was a oval track course surrounded by dirt banks. Heading into practice, the drivers meeting was all ears as they digested and dissected the guiding of Taka Aono. He was very specific on how the course was laid out and exactly what the judges would be looking for.

Heading into practice on Friday, the team was in good spirits with how our weekend was going to go. Josh started practice but after only a hand full of runs he had an issue with the power steering pump. We had to call practice early and pull the pump to see about making repairs. That evening we decided a new pump was the only fix for our issue due to the seal leaking. After numerous phone calls to all of the nearest and some further parts stores, we had one on the way. It would arrive the next day at about 1pm and the drivers meeting was at 3pm, so the gap was close. We hurried to the parts store the next day to get the new pump and rushed back as fast as possible to swap it. With the help of us all we had it back in and bled in 30 minuets. With plenty of time to spare before Josh had to be suited and at the meeting we prepared for practice with some burgers.

Practice was good on Saturday and went off without an issue. Josh was looking nice through the course but was just lacking being up all the way on the outer bank. This round had a lot of serious competition in the drivers field with a lot of drivers having previous experience at this very track from previous years. Sadly Josh missed the big show, but in the final standings he moved up 2 spots to bring him up to 20th overall. The event wrapped up and through the smoke Alex Grim driving the Datsun claimed the #1 spot and took the win at round 3. We packed up and left Sunday morning already discussing and planning for the final round. That would be Josh’s last Pro-Am round for the foreseeable time and we wanted to go out with a bang.
