MHC Showdown

This event is quite different than the rest at Musselman. The goal was to bring the style of drifting from around the country straight to Musselman Honda Circuit in Tucson, Arizona. It was an invitation only event which included most of the drivers from the last Expert Events, but there was a decent portion of the field from out of state.

In order to be approved to drive this event, you had to meet specific requirements. All body panels must be present unless noted, your car must be one color, and even after meeting those, your car needs to actually look cool. That might be subjective to some, but judging by majority of the cars here, you can easily see there was a certain style to what they were looking for. Being able to drive your car was important, but not nearly as important for your car to look cool. It seems a lot of people thought they could get accepted into this event just based on their driving.

Events like this aren’t completely just about driving, a large chunk of it is just hanging out with friends and talking to people about your car. The atmosphere is completely different than your typical event. Your average conversation is about the aero on a car, wheel sizing, the color of paint, and etc.

By bringing more style events to Arizona, we hope it may inspire others to want to take pride in the way their car looks. It was never cool to have a “missile” car. Those cars were built for specific reasons and also were a secondary car to their main car. Having a nicely put together and thought out car always will be better. We can’t thank everyone who did travel from around the country to this event, the MHC Staff, AJ Gillet, Clayton Kyle, Curly Divincenzo, and others who were a part of making this event come together.
