As said in our previous article, we have started to draw more towards grassroots and fun events. It seems to fit what we want to do with our own cars in the near future and overall it’s a fun time. Not to say that pro and proam series aren’t cool or fun, but I suppose we can just relate to grassroots events more so. Super D Cup fits in with what we want to do. We want to have fun, drift with our friends, and in a stylish way. This was officially one of the first events we went to where it was more style driven than anything other than Super D Matsuri.
Super D Cup Round 1 took place in Willows, California at Thunderhill Raceway. It was a 13 hour drive total for us, but it was beyond worth every mile. We were able to watch and capture one of the most unique new series to hit the United States. Some of you may argue with this statement, but as this series progresses, you too will see our view on this.
There were approximately 2-3 cars with anything over 300hp. This made it a pretty even playing field, making this event more about driving vs having the most equipped car on track. For example, your top 2 winners were fitted with just a stock KA24DE. If you aren’t sure how much power comes from a ka, it is only 155hp.
We would like to give a huge thank you to Super D USA for having us out for their first round of the series this year, along with putting in such great effort to pushing the quality of events they have been doing. It is a far drive for us, but we will be back for Round 4 this year with video this time.
